Selling Air India may not be the same as selling oil companies

After consolidating all petro-selling companies the behemoth will be sold off to Reliance Adani combine just as Air India is being toasted today.

The NDA government and Lohani, the man at the helm repeatedly said during interviews that Air India will never be sold but now they are ready to sell it. The same thing will happen with all other public assets as it happened under Arun Shourie for ITDC.

This may not be a bad thing entirely. The hotels that ITDC sold off are now doing well and serving the public in some manner. Professionals are enjoying a career in them unlike the ones that did not get sold off such as the Odisha Ashoka Hotel which is a disaster today and the Delhi one which is a joke.

Air India flights get delayed because the pilots sometimes fail to land up on time as they over sleep. Selling off Air India may be good but selling a core industry asset like oil may not be a good idea in all respects.
